Ewwwwww

This is what happens when you have milk that's nearing the end of it's life and then you go away for five days. Whoops.

At least it's all natural...

Rain Rain Stay Right Here

It rained significantly a couple of days ago for the first time in quite awhile. Coloradoans have a different approach to rain than the East Coast population does. I said to someone at work that 'It wasn't very nice out today'. He replied, 'It's raining right? That's great!' Even when it rains, it's not bad out for long:

My idea of the day is to send some of Denver's health kick and sunny weather to the East Coast in exchange for some water and some crime. It's a win-win. I just have to figure out how exactly to do that.

Endicott and Maxim???

I was reading the 2008 Maxim Food Awards last night and stumbled upon this gem:

Best Chicken
Phil's Chicken House
Endicott, NY
The crazy good baste--vinaigrette enrichedd with egg and poultry spice--was actually invented by a Cornell professor in the '50s ($6).

Once upon a time I ate at their buffet every Tuesday night, so to say I've tried the chicken would be an understatement. About half of those times I tried so much of it that I threw up afterwards. And it's a double bonus because apparently a Cornell professor created the stuff.

Seriously.

I'm Back. And Vegetables

It's been about six weeks since I wrote anything, hopefully somebody still reads this. Anyway, we've been getting vegetables from a CSA this summer, and I just picked them up tonight for the week. As the summer has picked up, we've been getting more and more vegetables. At first it was just lettuce, about four pounds a week. Now we're up to all of the stuff in the picture below.

It's a lot. So if you know anyone that wants any vegetables, we have a lot of extra beets, kale, and carrots. Next Day Shipping for just $9.99. I tried to make some beets last night, and was surprised by what I found inside. The white ones were white on the outside, so no surprises there. The other beets were red on the outside, just like every other beet I've ever had, but the inside was keeping a little secret:

There are no layers or anything in there, it's totally solid. Pretty neat huh?

It's been a slow week, if you couldn't tell from the things that excite me.

The Mets are a Mess

Mr Met is probably crying his exorbitantly large eyes out tonight after the mess that has been following the Mets around the last few days. For the uninformed it basically goes like this: There have been rumors that the manager, Willy Randolph, was about to fired for at least a month now. They got even worse this past weekend, and it finally came to a boiling point last night.

The Mets announced that they fired Randolph at 3:14 AM ET, and they're getting absolutely killed for it. Let me offer up this explanation though: The Mets were playing in LA, so the announcement really came out at 12:14 AM PT. The game started at 7:05 and lasted for 3:10, meaning it didn't end until 10:15. That means that in the course of and hour and fifty-nine minutes, the following things happened:

  • Post game interviews
  • Showers
  • Talk to team
  • Trip to Hotel
  • Get fired
I'm not sure what the issue here is. That seems like a reasonable two hours, and not at all like the Mets were waiting until the middle of the night. Maybe the East Coast should just suck it up and remember that there are two oceans surrounding this country.

On a side note, I know the perfect candidate for the new manager. The Mets need a guy that can regain control of the players and motivate them. I know just that guy.

Bill Cowher.

Seriously. Baseball managers don't do anything outside of lead the players anyway, so why not Mr. Cowher. Call me if you want to talk if over Omar.

Coolness

So, can you think of any day in two consecutive weeks with cooler dates than the last two Friday's? First, it was 6/7/8. Now it's Friday the 13th.

Rain

It rained pretty hard a couple of nights ago, but it's ok for a single reason. Falling asleep when to the sound of rain is awesome. It's second only to falling asleep to the sound of the ocean.

That's my deep revelation of the day.
