Current Events

We left for Denver today, so after 675 miles we're spending the night in South Bend, IN. Home of Notre Dame, and probably not too much else. When we got here it was about 45 degrees and raining. Now it's snowing and very very windy. And in two more hours, it's going to be snowing and 9 degrees. Hopefully it's gone by morning.

Tomorrow it's another 600 miles for us, ending up in Lincoln. One day later it's Denver, well Boulder anyway.

Come visit anytime after Friday.

What Does This Mean?

"You can be my black Kate Moss tonight"

One point for figuring out where it's from, and another for some reasonable interpretation.

Some Science for Once

Sometimes I forget that this blog is titled Ramblings of an Ex-Physicist, but I just found this picture, which is really cool. Here's the official caption that goes with it:

Color-enhanced scanning electron micrograph of an overflowed electrodeposited magnetic nanowire array (CoFeB), where the template has been subsequently completely etched. It’s a reminder that nanoscale research can have unpredicted consequences at a high level. Credit: Fanny Beron, École Polytechnique de Montréal, Montréal, Canada

Yep, that's a bunch of explosions. And in case you didn't read the caption, they weren't supposed to happen.
