Not A Lot Going On.

It's been a pretty quiet weekend, which is why there's hasn't been much writing going on here. I'm on way down to Baltimore and then DC shortly until Tuesday night. Thursday it's on a plane to Las Vegas for a weekend that I'm not quite sure what to anticipate.

The Tour de France is ending pretty much as I write this, and these guys are pretty impressive. They're averaging over 25 mph for thousands of miles. I bet you can't average 25 mph for three minutes. Downhill. A secondary though, since every biker seems to cheat, isn't that really like not cheating? Why not just let them do whatever they want?

Weekend

Put one more week in the books. A pretty boring week at that. The next few days seem pretty promising. Frisbee tonight, then a few days up in New York visiting some of Kendra's friends, then a few days in Cape May just hanging out. Work is just going to have to wait until sometime next Wednesday.

So I'm watching the intro to the ESPY's. Has anyone ever seen a better point scored, in any sport, than this:

Tour de What's Going On?

I've been watching the Tour de France, as I do most years about this time. It's surprisingly entertaining to watch, mostly because of the allusions to strategy that commentators are constantly referring to.

Please God, someone teach me about biking strategy. It seems like it should be pretty straightforward to me. Go fast. But not so fast that you can't finish. Somehow though it's much more complex than that. If one member of a team breaks away, the others don't. Go figure. Maybe they're just really nice guys.

The Mets are Confusing

Why would you ever cut Julio Franco? The guy's like a million years old (48 really). And for a 22 year old? Lastings had better be good, not like last year when he just acted like he was good.

And Ricky Henderson as a coach? Maybe they just figured they should get another 48-year old to replace Julio. Conversations are first base will now go something like this:

"Ricky thinks you can't steal second"
"Yeah, whatever, watch this."
...Runner gets thrown out...
"Ricky told you so. Nexy time Ricky will do it for you."

Car Mod

I'm thinking about getting these for my car. Probably in white.

Best.Idea.Ever.

Cool, right?

Plans are rolling

The month of July has been good for wedding planning. We've knocked off invitations, wedding rings, tuxedos and all kinds of accessories. I give credit to my iPhone for the added productivity, but I'm probably the only person with that opinion. Now if I could just find someone willing to drive people around for eight hours in a fancy car...

Thanks to everyone that has donated to my MS150 ride. I've raised nearly $250 in under a week. That's somewhere around halfway there with about a month to go.

MS150

In late September, I'll be participating in a 150 mile bike ride to raise money for MS. That, and also to lose some weight, but mostly for the MS part. If you would like to donate to the National MS Society and support my ride, here's the link.

MS150 Support

That's for doing what you can.

7.7.7

So I'm a day late with this one, but did anyone stop to consider the infrequency with which days like yesterday happen? I'd say it's about 0.03% of the time, give or take 0. Pretty neat.

4th of July - Nebraska Style

I've been in Nebraska for a couple of days now. Yesterday, obviously, was the 4th of July. Let me paint a little picture for you. Close your eyes, are turn on the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. That's more or less what it sounded like from around 5 PM straight through until midnight. Apparently the fireworks available in the midwest are significantly more safe than those on the East coast, because everyone has a ton of them. And they're legal. Not that that could stop me from almost blowing five people to pieces with a firework that was not capable of flying, but surely capable of exploding. Overall, quite fun.
