Nerd Story

Ever hear of the Student's t distribution? Kind of weird name right, when everything else in science and math is named after a person. Well it turns out that the distributino is really named after somebody. The name on the paper that described the distribution was A. Student.

So who was A. Student? His real name is William Seely Gosset, but he wasn't allowed to use that because his employer had previously been burnt big time by employees disclosing trade secrets.

Why did he come up with this distribution you may ask? To help pick out the highest yielding varieties of barley. For Guinness.

Weekend!

Friday night was a trip to Camden Yards. Even though I couldn't care less about the Orioles or the Blue Jays, it was a good game. Nothing like a little walk-off action to end the game.

Saturday we got to see Blue Man Group, which was crazily cool. The opening act was a dude that was spinning both music and video. Here's a pretty low-res video, but you get the point:

The rest of Blue Man Group was pretty awesome too.

Sunday was the first trip of the year for a bike ride, around the BWI trail. I think my shoulders and neck still hurt. I'll have to get that worked out, because about 12 days from now we're doing the 5 Bourough Bike Tour in NYC.

Sick. Sick of School.

I guess sitting outside watching the Mets play in 40 degree weather with 20 mph wind has caught up with me, because I'm pretty sick. How that happens when it's supposed to be 75 out, who knows. At least the Mets won. By a lot.

Only five more days of class left. Thank God, because if it was six more days, I'd drop out.

Weekend

It was a pretty busy weekend. We got to watch the Wings game from a luxury box at the Wachovia Center. The games border on entertainment instead of sport, but the food and drink was certainly worth it.

Saturday was pre-Cana day. For those of you that are sinners, pre-Cana is mandatory Catholic education for people that are getting married. Although not nearly as bad as I had thought it was going to be, there were still a few things that make you wonder how on Earth they haven't modernized, if only a tiny little bit.

Sunday was accompanied by 36 hours of pouring raing. Wait, 28 hours of pouring rain. Somehow all the weather people missed the fact that is was going to snow three inches overnight.

One last piece of political commentary. Even though the VT killings were pretty bad, somebody should tell the news people that it's not breaking news after 16 hours. It can't still be breaking if everyone in the world knows about it already.

Why Hello

I've got nothing to talk about, just work.school.work.school.work.school.

Repeat.

Burnt. Out.

I just got back from DC. It only took 4:30. I'm skipping class because I've had way too much to do the last few days, so now it's time to just relax for a night. Class every single night is much tougher than I thought it would be. Pair that up with a new job, and things are busy, that's for sure.

On a brighter note, the Mets are still on track to be 162-0 and should outscore their opponents 1080 - 108. Anyone want to take that bet? The Mets now occupy another counter to the right.

Mr. Met is Happy

The Mets are now on pace to end the season 162 - 0.

Slow Weekend

I didn't get to do a whole lot this weekend. The main event was supposed to be a Dave Brubeck show, but that got cancelled. I guess when you're 87, you get the option of cancelling a show once in awhile. He just better not die before the make up date in June. That will really annoy me.

It's been really nice out, so that has me doing two things. First, my car is now spotless again, inside and out. Second, I'm starting to feel like I should be doing athletic things. I'm going to be signing up for ultimate frisbee, and I've been trying to sign up for some bike races as well. Colin would be proud.
